Halaban is a native southeast Asian plant which has many functions for human use. The timber is commonly used as firewood. The practice has caused the decrease in Halaban population. The Halaban fruit was assumed to contain Polyphenol Oxidase (PPO) enzyme through the rapid browning triggered by the damage to the fruit.
