Controlling a surveillance camera integrated on a mobile robot using a graphical user interface system
A robot is assembled from electronics and mechanics systems that can be controlled and programmed depending on the function. Robots can be useful to assist human by replacing or complementing human behaviors in physical motions and mental actions. There are many kinds of robots, for instance, industrial robots, service robots, assistance robots, multi robots, and humanoid robots. The main purpose of this thesis is to design a surveillance system that is implemented on a mobile robot. This system is controlled using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) from a Personal Computer. The GUI is designed to simplify the control process, to save users' time from learning an assembly language and to provide a virtual panel for controlling under the Windows operating system. The GUI functions include alarm control, camera control, manual robot control, and automatic control.
