Designing and constructing a device to estimate the internal borehole well volume (in order to estimate the amount of cement needed to cement around the pipe)

Arko - Personal Name; Burhan, Stevanus Budiyanto - Personal Name;

The model of a borehole volume estimator is constructed by 4 mechanical finger arms that are attached on a base by 90? phase. Each finger arm is independently installed with a potentiometer, spring, and DC motor. Using a timing-belt, both of potentiometer and DC motor are mechanically connected with the finger arm and used as a sensor of distance and an actuator. Also, a mechanical design will connect the finger arm with the base. Furthermore, this device is able to estimate the internal volume of borehole well. The mechanical design of finger arms that is combined with potentiometers is used as a sensor to measure directly the distance from the center of the base to the wall of the well. From the measurement of the area combined with the measurement of heigHTM using disc encoder (which is done by my partner Dax), this device is able to estimate the total internal volume of a borehole well. A microcontroller and computer is used as the main processor to control the estimating process and estimate the borehole volume.
