Design and construction of an automatic filler for laser welding
This thesis is intended to develop a handheld machine that can deliver filler wire in laser welding process. Two methods are designed in these systems which are automatic and manual mode. In automatic mode; filler wire is delivered in pulses where as each pulse is delivered a constant length. The frequency of pulses relies on the frequency of laser welding machine. In manual mode, filler wire is delivered in a constant feed rate which is adjusted by welders. A microcontroller is used to control and process data in the system. A measuring device also attached to measure the length of wire that has been used. A LCD and six pushbuttons are used as the human interface. All these electrical system is stored in main box which also consist of power supply and wire storage system. Finally to deliver the wire, a stepper motor is attached in to the handheld system.
