Designing and constructing an automatic robot driver for vacuum cleaners
The advance of technology will never be separated from the human needs. This thesis is concerned with the designing and constructing a mobile robot which functions can drive a vacuum cleaner covering the entire floor of a room. The thesis focuses on how this mobile robot can navigate automatically in a coverage area populated by unknown obstacles.rnrnSome contact and non-contact sensors are used in this project in order to detect the wall, stair and the obstacles in a room. The controller is a microcontroller chip that will process every input to produce signals to run the DC motors as the actuators.rnrnThis mobile robot, which also named as the robot driver, has a mechanical construction that was adjusted based on the shape of the used vacuum cleaner. The works of the thesis project was begun by designing all the parts conceptually, making the electrical circuit and the mechanical construction and later programming the robot driver.
