Analysing implementation of Indonesia Go Open Source (IGOS) at the ministry of research and technology

Indrajit, Richardus Eko - Personal Name; Firdausy, Tania Puspita - Personal Name;

Software piracy has been given a great attention by the Government of Indonesia. One of the many alternatives to solve the problem is by introducing the open source software, so called IGOS (Indonesia, go open source) movement. The State Ministry of Research and Technology is the first pioneer in implementing this open source movement. It is, therefore, important to examine and analyze how the State Ministry of Research and Technology implement the IGOS movement through using open source software. rnrnUsing both qualitative and quantitative approaches, it was found that the implementation phases undertaken by the ministry differ with method that has been advanced in the literature. The Ministry has five phases in the implementation process, namely, planning, organizing, socialization, migration and supporting. All phases of the implementation process have been viewed by the respondents under survey less sufficient. The reasons for this are due to lack of software preparation, lack of number of the IT team member, and software incompatibilities, to name just a few.
