Development of regenerative braking and battery charging for an electric bicycle
The main purpose of this thesis project is to generate energy efficiency of an electric bicycle. In order to reach that goal, we need to apply a new system for electric bicycle which has been applied in hybrid technology vehicle. This new system called Regenerative Braking. In big lines, the works is converting some kinetic energy into some electrical energy.rnrnThere has been two times preceding development of this SGU electric bicycle. The first developer was Wishnuputra Dhanu in November 2006. He built this electric bicycle using standard bicycle and operates based on microcontroller ATmega8. In July 2007, the unfinished thesis work continued by Jan Adibrata. He made some major development in braking system and motor controller.rnrnThe author himself is the third generation of SGU electric bicycle. He concentrates the unfinished part of previous thesis work which is designing an appropriate regenerative braking system and major changes in designing the mechanical parts.
