Designing and constructing a mobile weighing station as a part of sorting system
The thesis project is intended to design and construct a mobile robot which acts as a mobile weighing station as a part of sorting system. The mobile robot has the capability of weighing a certain weight of workpieces. To achieve this purpose, the mobile robot is equipped with a weight scale that uses a strain gauge as a sensor to determine the weight of the workpiece. The mobile robot will also be equipped with a mechanical bumper that will actuate limit switches on the robot upon collision, to protect the robot from crashing foreign objects. Two DC motors will be use as the drivetrain for the mobile robot integrated with optical encoder on each motor to control movements and calculate the displacement of the robot.
