Development of automatic number plate recognition (anpr) using digital image processing and artificial neural network for parking system
The latest semi-automatic parking system that has been implemented in Indonesia still needs at least two people to run the manual part of the system. The first person is responsible to enter the license number of coming cars to the system in the entrance. Another person is responsible to enter the license number of outgoing cars in the exit and getting the bill.rnComing along with the growth of Digital Image Processing and Artificial Neural Network, a new computerized method to identify license number was discovered, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). The purpose of this research is to develop an ANPR application intended to be implemented in the current parking system.rnThe first step to finish the application is to study and analyze the approaches to be applied. Then, the data of car images should be collected to adjust the approaches and validate the application. The final step is to develop the application based on the preliminary analysis.rnIn the end, the ANPR application is successfully developed. This development proved that automation is able to be done replacing the manual task.
