The Design and implementation of COTP (Connection Oriented Transport Protocol) packet data unit reception in ATN (Aeronautical Telecommunication Network)
ATN is an international communication infrastructure that process the digital data transfer among airlines and ground air transportation control. ATN implements CLNP as its network protocol and COTP (Connection Oriented Transport Protocol)/CLTP (Connectionless Oriented Transport Protocol) as its transport protocols.rnrnWe implement COTP based on ISO/IEC 8073 and ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) SARPs (Standards and Recommended Practices) documentation. Each of COTP function has been implemented using C programming language as a kernel module and loaded manually into the Linux kernel 2.6.21.rnrnFurthermore, we focus on receiving functionality in COTP to receive packet data and decomposed packet data into COTP TPDUs (Transport Protocol Data Units) from CLNP. It is done in such a manner because the CLNP is not ready to be used. Therefore, we received packet data units directly from LLC (Logical Link Control). We have successfully received packet data units from LLC and decomposed packet data into COTP TPDUs.
