Implementation of online finger print based absent system in Swiss German University
The primary purpose of this thesis is to build an online finger-print based attendance-tracking system for Swiss German University. This system is hoped to be able to reduce, or even completely remove, attendance data manipulation done by students, since every student will have different finger-prints than the others. The parents of the students will also be able to access the data in the system through the use of SMS. Therefore, the system consists of two main parts, namely the finger print reader and the SMS gateway. The finger print reader will be used to track whether a student does attend a class or not. Meanwhile, the SMS gateway will enable the parent to monitor the attendance data through the use of a simple mobile phone. The development of the system will follow the spiral model, which incrementally increases the state of the system at each iteration. The final result is an attendance tracking system for SGU, which provides a convenient platform to track attendance data, and also to reduce attendance data manipulation.
