Impact of internships on Swiss German University alumni's professional career
Internship is becoming more and more common among university students. The purpose of this research is to study the impact of internships on professional careers of Swiss German University alumni. This research also determines any part of SGU programs that needs to be improved to contribute more to building students futurernprofessional career.rnrnThe methodology uses in this research include internship benefit, soft competency or emotional intelligence, language skill, and entrepreneurship as the factors influencing alumni's professional career. This study includes qualitative and quantitative data, which the respondents are alumni from all faculties of Swiss German University.rnrnrnFirstly, the research describes factors of internship benefits that influencing alumni's professional career are internship industries, some transition into jobs, network opportunities, internship work relation to subjects, understand the business and internship knowledge.rnrnSecondly, soft competency and English skill that alumni acquired from both internships are not sufficient to be applied in their current professional career. Then only German language skill that they get from 6th semester internships is sufficient.rnrnThirdly, there is a significant impact of internship on former student's entrepreneurship aspiration.
