Analysis of students trust regarding the credibility of news broadcasted by television channels: a comparison of metro tv and tv one

Nowadays, there are a number of choices of news programs from national televisionrnchannels in Indonesia. Consequently it allows the audience to judge which channelrnhas more credibility than the others in terms of news delivery, and will therefore relyrnon that particular channel to receive the latest news.rnThe purpose of this thesis is to reveal which channel is more credible from the otherrnaccording to the audience?s point of views, comparing two Indonesian news channels,rnMetroTV and tvOne. Besides that, the author also studied whether or not there is arnrelation between the frequency of watching the news and which channel the audiencernchooses.rnDuring the research, the author adopted both quantitative and qualitative researchrnmethod consisting of survey and focus group discussion. After the results arerncalculated, the author found out that the audience trusts MetroTV more than tvOne,rnand that the frequency of watching the news does not necessarily contribute anyrnrelation to the channel the audience relies on. More detailed reasons behind the datarngathered from the focus group discussion are also revealed in this thesis.
