Designing and controlling a standing mechanism for an automatic wheel chair
This thesis is intended to design and construct a standing mechanism for an automatic wheelchair. The standing mechanism will be able to help the user to get into standing position. To achieve this purpose, the wheelchair is equipped with four bar linkage mechanism as the standing frame and four bar linkage as a driving system for standing mechanism. The wheelchair will also be equipped with H-bridge controller to control the movement of the DC motor that drive the standing mechanism. The standing mechanism will be designed to be able to withstand weight of a person. The DC motor is equipped with a gearbox which will increase the torque of the motor and reduce the speed of the motor. A microcontroller will be used to control all the system. In conclusion, the standing system is able to work as expected. For further development, the time taken can be shortened.
