Analyzing the efficiency of pomec focusing on electricity cost saving, case study at hotel x
Electricity usage in hotels makes up most of the carbon footprint and is a second largest cost after people. Hotel industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world due to increased tourism and market globalisation. As a result for that, hotels are providing more facilities and services to customers, which lead to the increase of electricity consumption. Indonesian's government cannot supply enough energy for industry. Cost saving should be conducted. Therefore, electricity efficiency is important. This paper focuses primarily on conversion of technologies such as LED lights, heat exchanger, chillers operation, and people awareness, which effectively help the management in reducing the electricity costs. Both technologies conversions and awareness help the Hotel X becomes electricity efficient, with 169,06kWh/m2/year in 2011. Air Conditioning took 29.06% and becomes the biggest expense of electricity consumption. Some of the experts provided the data, makes this research qualitative in data collection, while the employees at Hotel X were taken as the samples and shows a significant correlation between awareness and cost reduction. Hotel X should try to make the awareness as a part of employee's culture and implement musicool Freon to reduce the electricity consumption on AC.
