Designing an electronics support device to aid development of a high speed data transmission slip ring
The purpose of this thesis project is to design and build the electronics support device as an aid of development of a high speed data transmission slip; signal amplifier, logic level converter/translator, and switching DC-DC step-down converter. The needs of interfacing between different logic-level used in the transmitted signal in digital communication of industrial application brings this thesis project to bridge the gap of signal with logic family such as ECL, LVDS, and TTL level with two data rates of interest, 1.25Gbps and 100Mbps. To fulfill the requirement of supply power for the logic level translator device, additional switching DC-DC step-down converter capable of converting the DC voltage used in industry to the level needed by the translator device will also be realized. The result of this thesis project, both physical and measurement, will be used as analysis base for improving signal quality for a better signal integrity and for improving the design of further version.
