Designing and Constructing a Control System for Existing Distribution Station of Festo Mps Using Siemens Technomatix Plant Simulation
The main objective of this thesis work is to develop a control system for the MPS Distribution station by using Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation 11 via wireless Local Area Network (LAN). Furthermore, a simulation of material flow is also developed in Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation to show the feedback of the current actual process in the MPS Distribution station. the problem to be addressed is to establish a communication system which able to connect hardware from different manufacturers. in this thesis work, the Cubieboard is connected to the input / output module of the PLC and served as the external controller. a Qt Graphical User Interface (GUI) application is developed and integrated to the Tecnomatix Plant Simulation to support the communication with the external controller. the communication utilize the TCP/IP protocol with a Modbus data packet embedded inside the IP packet. a series of experiments are conducted to test the reliability of the communication links and accuracy of the simulation compare to the actual process in MPS Distribution station. in the end, the MPS Distribution station is successfully controlled through the wireless network and the simulation of actual material flow is successfully displayed in Tecnomatix Plant Simulation.
