Designing and Constructing Emg Based Lower Arm Exoskeleton Model
Proportional with time, the demand for higher quality products had been driving researchers to invent better products with better technology. in recent years, exoskeleton suits were made commercially possible. an exoskeleton suit is a smart mechanical suit that enables the wearer to perform physical tasks beyond physical human capabilities. the purpose of this thesis work is to design and construct an exoskeleton model that controlled by monitoring the wearers muscle contraction, which can be done by implementing a technique called electromyography (EMG). the exoskeleton can help the society in many ways such as to carry heavy objects within a far distance and even to give physiotherapy to disabled persons to stimulate their weak muscle contraction. the reason of making the model first,instead of wearable exoskeleton suit directly is to avoid injury to its wearer. the concept of EMG technique is that different levels of muscle contractions result different amplitudes of EMG signal. Furthermore, this signal then fed into signal processing circuit to make the signal more stable and readable. the procedure of the circuit can be split into of three basic processes, which consists of amplification, filtration and rectification. After the signal considered ready, the signal then fed to Analog Digital Converter (ADC) to convert the signal into a decimal value from 0-1023. Moreover, these values acts as states in the software, which then used for determining desired positions the lower arm exoskeleton needs to travel.
