Designing and Developing a Simulation Control for Actual Testing Station of Festo Modular Production System Using Tecnomatix Plant Simulation
The main objective of this thesis is to develop a simulation using Tecnomatix Plant Simulation which is able to control an actual hardware, in this thesis is MPS Testing Station via wireless communication. to exchange data, Modbus Protocol is used as common protocol between controllers and TCP/IP protocol is developed so that communication via wireless is achieved. Because Plant Simulation and MPS Testing Station do not recognize Modbus protocol, a protocol converter needs to be developed as translator from Modbus to each system protocol. QT Creator software is used as interface, decoder and constructor of Modbus protocol to Plant Simulation and MPS Testing Stations protocol. Whereas Plant Simulation and QT Creator Software is connected wirelessly. Several tests are conducted to examine the connection and data transfer. It can be seen that the system works successfully, although data stacking issue emerges during wireless communication.
