Prototype Application Development to Find Optimal Cutting Parameter - Using Taylor tool Life Formula for Milling Machine and Redesigning Software
This thesis project designs and develops an application that finds the optimum combination of cutting parameter cutting speed(v), feed(f), depth of cut(doc) and width of cut(woc) in a CNC milling machine. Currently, deciding the cutting parameter is over generalized and because of that many resource is wasted, therefore an application that quickly finds the optimum cutting parameter to reduce the production cost is needed. a Java application is to be developed and Taylors tool Life Formula will be used to calculate the machining cost. the result of the application is the suggested combination of cutting parameter that result in the lowest cost. Based on the result and calculation generated by the application, it can be proven that cutting parameter affects the production cost greatly. the application can be further developed by including a more sophisticated optimization method, like the Genetic Algorithm.
