Influence of Diversity, Communication Practices & Employee Competence on Organizational Citizenship Behavior: a Case Study at Galeri Ciumbuleuit Hotel & Apartment in Bandung, Indonesia
The emergence of globalization has forced organization to apply diversity in the workplace to be able to comprehend with the vast markets. Organizational citizenship behavior has become one of the prerequisite to achieve organizational success. This research seeks to analyze the effects of implementing a diverse workforce challenges communication practice within the organization and how organization utilizes diverse employee competences to the workplace. Furthermore, this research was carried out to analyze whether communication practice or employee competence may perhaps become one of the influential factor of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). This research has been performed in one of a four star hotel called Galeri Ciumbuleuit Hotel & Apartment in Bandung, where the data was collected from a total of 84 full-time and 16 part-time employees of the hotel. Data analysis and testing is conducted through the use of statistical software and path analysis. the result has proven that diversity has a positive correlation and significantly influences communication practice and employee competence. Whereas, communication practices and employee competence has a positive correlation towards OCB but the strength of influence is not strong enough to drive employees to engage in OCB, therefore it provides a base for future research on other factors that may have stronger influence towards OCB.
