Resource Based Strategy for a Local Hospital: a case study for Hospital XYZ
In this fast moving economy, the globalization has ruled the way people life. This includes how hospitals operate. The shifting of the hospital attitude is from social to business, for example XYZ hospital. To compete with the local hospital, XYZ hospital needs to have a strategy in how to use their resources. The thesis aim is to create competitive advantages for XYZ hospital in managing the resources, tangible and intangible. rnrnThe methodology used literature research, interviews with the management of XYZ hospital, and the employees. The data of this thesis is collected from XYZ hospital itself and own research. There is a survey which is done by the hospital on customer satisfaction. The strategy development of the thesis follows Mintzberg. It analyses the SWOT, key success factor, core competence and competitive advantages. Moreover, it also adds the idea of Five Porter Industry's analysis and Porter Generic's Strategy.rnrnFrom the findings, the conclusion of the research of XYZ hospital needs to maintain, improve and add the resources to create competitive advantages. It has to have a network with other hospitals for learning, add more facilities and improve the employees' capabilities. This is done to meet the needs of the customers.
