Closed-Loop Control of Brushed DC Motor Using PID and Fuzzy Logic
There are many ways and models recently used in the Control Technique, from the simple on-off controller up to complicated mathematical calculation.nIn this research the performance of the closed loop control of Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller and Fuzzy Logic (FL) controller have been tested for controlling the velocity of brushed Direct Current (DC) Motor.nThe basic idea developed in this research is based on the conventional PID controller which then being extended with FL controller, one of the emerging technologies, which receive more attention in control area.nThe system performance has been compared in term of rise time, overshoot, settling time and smoothness of the transient response to determine the most suitable controller for brushed DC motor.nA Personal Computer (PC) was used in the research acting as the controller. A small experimental device has been built as a model to find the parameters and characteristics of the actual system and a small software program has been developed to ease the research process.nThe result of this experiment has shown that implementing FL controller will improve the system's transient response.
