Prim's Algorithm Study in Optimization of Petroleum Product Pipeline Network from Gilimanuk Harbor to Eight Cities in Bali Island
As the demand for the petroleum products have been increasing for Bali, the development of an efficient and faster way of delivering products is highly recommended. This study is about pipeline network selection which is one among other methods for delivery system that can fulfill the business environment within the next 20 years. Such a complex represents a considerable capital investment, typically in the order of hundreds of million dollars, the best pipeline route has to be recognized as essential to optimize this investment, not only in monetary term but also in term of safety and reliability.nnThis paper describes the components of the overall strategy including how to select the least cost of pipeline route for a given network, to select its size and to calculate the range cost to represent the likeliness the real value will be.nnThe particular attention is focused on the pipeline route selection using Prim's algorithm which is the main element in practical cost optimization. The benefit of the algorithm is ist creates minimum spanning tree (MST) to produce a minimum cost for a given network. Java language MST program is introduced to stimulate the data.
