The Impact of the non-smoking regulation for the restaurant industry in Jakarta's shopping mall
The purpose of the thesis is to identify the impact of the non-smoking regulation for the restaurant industry in Jakarta shopping mall and to find out how the restaurant businesses overwhelm the impact. The thesis has also investigated customer visit frequency to restaurants implementing the non-smoking regulation. The primary data are collected by conducting interview to restaurant and café staff, questionnaire to customers and secondary data are gathered from internet and by conducting interview to government officials. Fulfilling customer needs and wants is very important to increase customer satisfaction. Thus, the non-smoking regulation has given impact for the restaurant industry in both positive and negative ways and somehow decreased customer satisfaction. It shows the cause-effect relationship between the non-smoking regulation and customer satisfaction. From the research, it can be concluded that the only way to gain back customer satisfaction is by fulfilling customer needs and wants by providing smoking area within the premises.
