The emergence of traditional/regional culinary art as component to boost tourism, case study : Gado-gado Boplo Restaurant, Grand Indonesia, Jakarta

Indonesia is definitely rich with the amazing culinary art from many different regions and ethnics. Traditional/regional culinary art has an important role as component to boost tourism. The main purpose of this research is to find out how far Gado-Gado Boplo restaurant contributes to the development of the Indonesian culinary art and also to analyze what factors would be considered by the customers in choosing Gado-Gado Boplo restaurant as one of the popular traditional culinary restaurants in Jakarta. Qualitative and quantitative approaches are conducted in this study. The primary data is collected by distributing questionnaires to the customers and in-depth interview to the restaurant management. The secondary data is gained from books and websites that are related to the theory. The result analysis of this research shows that there are 4 important factors considered by the customers in choosing Gado-Gado Boplo restaurant as one of the popular traditional culinary restaurants in Jakarta. They are taste of the food, nutritious food, cleanliness, and variety of healthy meals. Gado-Gado Boplo restaurant has given great contribution to the development of the Indonesian culinary art. They believe that the Indonesian culinary art can increase the development and growth of the tourism in Jakarta.
