Analysis of entrepreneurial success determinants of small and medium enterprises specializing in the food service industry in South Tangerang, Indonesia
n the economic system of a country, entrepreneurial activity is believed to have an important role, especially in the development of the country. Entrepreneur or business owner as the one who runs the activity is directly involved in the operation of their business. Therefore it is important for them to maintain their business viability. This research then tries to identify factors that might influence business performance from the perspective of business owner. The entrepreneurial mindset development model (Anantadjaya et al., 2011) and fixed vs. growth mindset theory (Dweck, 2008) are used as a foundation of entrepreneurial mindset theory in this research. In addition entrepreneurial characteristics theory (Neneh & Vanzyl, 2012) and performance management practices theory (Toppo & Prusty, 2012) are also used in this research for further study regarding the factors that might influence business performance. By using both primary and secondary data sources, the data are collected through Small and Medium enterprises (SMEs) in South Tangerang, Indonesia. As a result, this study finds that growth mindset, tolerance of ambiguity, and quality of employee performance are the most dominant factors that affect business performance. It is expected that this study could lead people who run their business into a better light of success.
